Why Does Battery Life Suck? In this video I go over how to improve battery life on smartphones, laptops, tablets, game systems and other portable electronics. For example in 1999 Apple sold the PowerBook G3 which had a 333MHz CPU and 5 hours of battery life. In the 11 years since, the MacBook Pro now comes with a quad core 2.5GHz processor which is many times faster and yet only has about 7 hours of battery life. There are several factors involved including Moore’s Law which dictates that all integrated circuits should double every 18 months while rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have no such laws. Smartphones in particular are hurt by poor battery performance in comparison to the various other components which is why you always see such a tradeoff between new technologies such as dual core processors and 4G support and poor battery life. There are things you can do to get better battery life however. Turning down the screen brightness can help, as can closing applications, programs or extra features such as live wallpapers can get you more time between recharges. After watching many crush test about lithium cells for EV, i decided to do my own test when i saw that Backhoe-Loaders in my street. I asked the guy and e accepted… for the science…. In this video you can se two different cells having torture when crushed with this 10 tons loader. The A123 is a lithium ironphosphate.. one of the best lithium cells on the market, and an 2 LG Chem lithium cobalt cells found in many laptop computer. The A123 measured 3.32V and the LG Chem shown 3.9V befor ethe test. The A123 was the first choice for the GM volt until LG chem had the contract. The Cobalt LG chem cell have 2200mAh and the A123 Ironphosphate have 2300mAh. When i did that test i attempted to see a big fire, flames and smoke and pop on the LG Chem cells… and nothing on the A123.. or maybe just some smoke… Finally that turned out differently !!
