Let us discuss some of these notorious pieces of software.

Malware is the software which causes or tends to harm to you and your machine.  Everybody would have heard the name of virus.  However, it is not a sole malware.  There are more types of malware.  These may include Worms, Trojan Horses, Rootkits and many more. They differ in their nature and gravity of loss they can do to our computer.

Virus the commonly know malware is the software created by naughty software developers that can harm the computer machine a lot.  It spreads like amoeba by replicating itself.  It makes Internet, CDs, pen drives and other storage media it’s medium to travel from one computer to several computers.  It does so by attaching with a valid file or programs.  The creators of virus name it with the names of much popular people like Britney Spears or some other popular events.  They do so to lure you to open the infected file.  So be cautious when you smell some probable danger.

Worm is the younger brother of virus, but it is naughtier.  It can spread without your mistake or interaction.  It does not wait you to open the infected file.  It can also infect thousands of computers on the Internet and can even harm servers by consuming the bandwidth required by them.  It may also use your email address book to send own replicated copies to your near and dear ones.  You may not always hope for sweet thanks for your best wishes send through emails.  After a worm infected your computer, you are not only the sole owner of your computer.  Some hacker sitting millions of miles away may share your ownership.  So beware of this type of malware.

What will you think, when you see your desktop changed?  Have you seen some icons on the desktop which you have never added or brought on the desktop screen?  Who has done this?  No answer?  Then perhaps you have not heard name of Trojan horse, a much tricky, naughty type of malware. It resembles like any of legitimate software and you may not be able to recognize it.  You may have to strike your head on the computer table or screen after you install this software infected with Trojan horse.
