Make Windows XP Faster While Starting Up

Submitted by admin on December 9, 2009 – 6:02 amNo Comment

Does your Windows XP take forever to start up? This is the problem most computer users have to face. There are some trivial issues, which makes a Windows XP runs slow.

At first, there are some programs and Windows registry, which are loaded when Windows XP starts up. Some programs, system files and registry keep on running till the PC is on, while the other programs stay inactive after loading. But these programs can be activated easily whenever they are required. As all these system files, programs and registries try to be loaded all at once, a large amount of memory space gets occupied. A computer memory cannot handle such load and becomes slow. This situation is similar to a congested road during the peak hour of the day. The more programs get loaded while starting up the window the computer gets slower.

Apart from that, there are some useless and redundant files, which are left over by the uninstalled programs in the registry. These are also responsible for overloading the memory because your system takes a lot of time to realize that these programs cannot be loaded. During this long span of time all other start up programs wait in queue.

So if you are searching for the ways to speed up your PC. You may follow these steps mentioned below to speed up PC that runs Windows XP.

Get a good hardware – To make Windows XP faster while starting up you may add RAM or memory. It will help your PC to load a number of programs all together while starting up without slowing it down. Though it is not a very long term and optimized solution, as it is quite expensive and tough to configure. As you did not detect and eliminate the problem from the root the PC may get slow again in spite of providing more space or adding RAM.

Repair and clean the Windows registry – Windows registry is one of the most important factors that work behind making a PC slow. The registry mounts up a huge amount of “entries” within a very short span of time. As you uninstall a program the registry entry of the program remains there and makes the windows search for the files, which do not exist at all. This is one of the most long term, time saving and most optimal option.

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. You should search the programs, which you want to uninstall first. This option can speed up the start up. But it depends on those deleted programs, which may create hazards while starting up.

Though you may clean the registry yourself manually it is advised that you should use registry cleaner software. If you are not very familiar with the whole process and accidentally delete a legitimate file the entire system may freeze or crash. On the other hand good registry cleaner software scan the system to detect and delete all the invalid entries from the registry. This process helps to speed up computer rapidly. But while choosing you should select a good quality registry cleaner. Otherwise it may further harm your PC rather than speeding it up.
